More Jimmy V Mayhem

The 'good folks' over at 96 Rock in South Carolina gratiously agreed to have John on their radio show to discuss the Jimmy V incident. All seemed to be going well until one of the hosts, Salt (pictured left - with my apologies) (salt@96rockwebmail.com), decided to antagonize John and it just went downhill from there. Since it was taped, I was told by the other host, Demetri (demetri@96rockwebmail.com), that they would not air the show. Do you think they aired it anyway? Of course they did. Listen for yourself:

From the 96 Rock site:
John Rocker, former MLB pitcher, sent out a press release recently after he was "un-invited" to the Jimmy V Classic this weekend. His publicist contacted 96rock Mornings to do an interview in order to get his side of the story. Hear the interview Listeners react.

Sorry about this photo of Salt, but I think it gives you a good idea of who this clown is.

Why doesn't John just admit that he made a mistake and say he is sorry what he said about minorities and gay people?? John got very defensive towards the end of the radio show. he should have just said he was sorry, he made a mistake, and be done with it. Doesn't he realize that there are STRAIGHT people out there who have gay sons and daughters too that may have been offended by what he has said in the past? I have always told people that you need to be vewry careful what you say because you never know who has had an abortion, who has a gay son or daughter, who has an adopted colored child, etc. It's way too touchy. I see John wearing a shirt that says SPEAK ENGLISH. It looks to me like he likes controversy!

John has apologized thousands of times, but still seven years later he gets tormented about it. I know I have made mistakes in my life, but if I had to be reminded of them every day I'd probably get a little punchy too. As for the T-shirts, expecting people who live and work in this country to speak the language shouldn't be controversial. If any of us moved to Japan, we'd better learn the language or we'd have a hard time surviving...They are not going to learn English just to suit us.

--- I'm a closeted gay male and I think the gay (and minority) community needs to lighten up a little. Perhaps John has learned from his mistakes and is more careful on what he says. When I was in college I found out my roommate was gay and I kicked him out of our apartment because of it and called him many bad names. I was in major denial about myself. I made a mistake and later apologized. Perhaps someday John will realize that all gay people are not purple haired fruits, trannies and weirdoes and that some of us are good decent people. I think people need to forgive and forget. This whole ordeal with John Rocker has been dragged on for way too long. Can't people just drop it????? As a gay person I think it's kind of sad that people are not giving him a 2nd chance. We all make mistakes and no one is perfect. Now if John said these things again that would be a different story with me.....but he hasn't to the best of my knowkledge. Lighten up people and give this guy a 2nd chance. Is it never going to stop?

7 years after the whole "incident" started, the media has to keep going over and over and over it.

I could not believe the way they started under the illusion that they were there to interview him about the tourny, then immediatly switched it over to the old stuff.

After all this time, they need to start focusing on the positive stuff that John has done since then. How much money has he helped raise for charities at this point? Why don't we hear about that? We hear about the good stuff that other celebrities do, but I don't think I've ever heard about John's positive contributions without having to search them out myself.

And I had to say something about the comment towards the t-shirts. My husband didn't speak English when I first met him, but he believes the same as I do. If you're going to be in this country, you have an obligation to learn how to speak our language. When I went to Mexico with him, I was lucky that I spoke Spanish, because nobody bent over backwards to speak English to me. Now my husband speaks English as fluently as I do, and he expects the same of others who come here.

Amazing, I'm an American woman married to a hispanic man, we have a daughter and another on the way, and I support John Rocker. Always have. If I can understand what happened, why can't others? People believe what the media want them to believe without doing their own research and coming up with the facts themselves.

Ha. Just got here.
"A Day in the Life....john Rocker" should be a reality show. Featuring him, the missus, and his Mexican pool boy.

Just funny all around.
